Gestation

Every mammal has it's own typical gestation period.

So does every sale.

Some customers walk in and when I ask them what's most important to them, they say, "That I get a truck today."  That's rabbitlike in the speed of the cycle.  Other customers take weeks, or even months.

There's no right or wrong speed, no better or worse way of doing it.  Granted, for the Truck Merchant a quick turnaround is exhilarating; he feels that he's accomplishing things with dispatch and doing a great job.  But the long sales need the time they need, and there's no rushing the formation of that embryonic deal.

Just what did you think I was doing, Hal?
